Welcome back to the High School Corner!

This week, the High School is going on a mini-trip to Georgetown, TX. We will be attending the Brown Symposium: The Anthropocene at Southwestern University in support of the work we are doing for the climate change symposium. The symposium centers around the belief that we are entering a new geological epoch created by humans. During our visit on Wednesday and Thursday, we will attend the screening of the 2016 documentary, A Plastic Ocean, and will be present at several talks and Q&As about topics ranging from environmental justice to science journalism to ecofeminism.

As some of you may already know, the Adolescent Community and High School will be hosting “From Knowing to Acting,” a climate change symposium on May 3, 2019. The Brown Symposium at Southwestern will be a wonderful way for students to get an idea of what a symposium looks like, in addition to gaining further knowledge about climate change. We are excited to be spending an extended amount of time on Southwestern’s campus this week because this experience will also help us in our college search!

Thank you for reading; we hope to see you back next week!
