Welcome back to the High School Corner!

After a brief hiatus, we are glad to bring the High School Corner back as a weekly feature in The Globe. This week we will give you a look at a very interesting part of our curriculum: Current Events.

Every Thursday, two students present on local, national, or international topics that have recently been in the news—this can be anything from the political, economic, and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela to poaching in Botswana to the wildfires of California. These presentations must be accompanied by a map that gives geographical context to the issue being discussed. The beauty of Current Events is that it serves in teaching us about geography, history, and the importance of being an informed inhabitant of the world. We are encouraged to share our own informed opinion on the issue at hand as a part of our presentation. Historical context is possibly the most important tool in giving a balanced and well-informed presentation, for this reason, we are required to include historical context in our presentations. We love this class and are excited to continue learning about and discussing the multi-faceted issues that presented to us.

On January 31st, during Montessori Night, join us for an exhibit of original visual art featuring mixed media, photography, paintings, and sculptures presented by the Adolescent Community and High School. Our inaugural exhibit will be in the Welcome Center from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. Also make sure to check out the AC Literary Arts Magazine that our friends in the AC will be premiering that night. We hope you can join us!

Thanks for reading, and we will see you next week!
