Biography

Kapila Sankaran hails from Nigeria, India, and Canada. Prior to living in Texas, she lived in Illinois and New York City. She has an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and a graduate degree in Library & Information Science. She has always enjoyed working with families, as a youth services librarian and as an early childhood music educator. 
 
Kapila is married to Aaron, who teaches English at San Jacinto Community College. They have a son who has attended St. Catherine's since he was three years old. She is fascinated by cats, Texas native plant gardening, and playing and teaching ukulele. Kapila and her family enjoy backpacking and camping whenever the opportunity arises.  
 
She is especially drawn to Dr. Maria Montessori's emphasis on the development of the "whole child," and its wider significance for uplifting the whole world. She is pursuing her AMI Diploma course at the Primary level as of June 2024.
