Service Learning

Community service is woven into each stage of education at St. Catherine’s, fostering students’ awareness of their impact on the world. Through service opportunities, students cultivate empathy, responsibility, and leadership—skills they carry into their lives beyond the classroom.

Infant Community and Primary

In early childhood, service begins within the classroom. Children contribute by preparing food for community snacks, doing laundry, and replenishing learning materials. As children grow, they learn to comfort peers by offering tissues or assisting with a challenging task, which helps develop empathy from a young age.

Elementary

Elementary students expand their service into the school and local communities. They might volunteer in younger classrooms—deepening connections with peers—or host donation drives for causes they are passionate about, such as collecting funds for disaster relief or school supplies for local children’s charities. Through these meaningful activities, students develop a strong sense of social responsibility.

Adolescent Community and High School

In the adolescent community and high school, service takes on a broader scope to include both local outreach and global projects. Students participate in community service trips and retreats, applying their skills to real-world issues. These opportunities allow them to serve as role models within the school and beyond, embodying the Catholic values of charity and compassion.

Currently, SCM has a total of 54 partners in the areas of internships, educational experiences, and service opportunities
