Biography

Anja hails from North Carolina, where she spent her childhood playing in the woods, hiking with her family, and going to Montessori school. She received a B. A. in English from Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina, where she served as president of the student volunteer organization. The year after her studies, Anja taught English to secondary school students in Tanzania with the Benedictine Volunteer Corps.

Upon moving to Houston in 2017, Anja joined the St. Catherine’s community as an assistant guide for Primary. Not only did the experience convince her of the beauty and wholeness of Montessori education, but it also brought her closer to her mother, who has been a Primary guide for over fifteen years. Beyond the workspace, Anja enjoys painting, camping, and gathering with friends. In Houston, she has been developing a new interest in cooking, and is still on the hunt for the best taco.
