Biography

A native Houstonian, Tom attended Montessori schools from infancy through 5th grade and graduated from Carnegie Vanguard High School. He studied environmental science and history at the University of Houston.

After college, Tom moved to Northern California to live and work on an organic vegetable farm for two years, where he gained experience mixing soils, planting, harvesting, and constructing a greenhouse. He also completed a variety of construction projects in the Houston area and worked for a local air conditioning company modernizing electronic components.

Tom’s love of gardening, the outdoors, and interacting with students brought him to St. Catherine’s in 2015. He has worked as an assistant in Upper Elementary where he planned and tended the campus gardens and as a Farm Manager in the Adolescent Community.

Tom appreciates the freedom of the Montessori environment and that students are empowered to work at their own pace, taking ownership of each project.

Tom is the third eldest sibling in a family of seven children. In his spare time, he enjoys basketball, traveling, and playing the guitar.
