A Walk Down Memory Lane

Welcome back to the High School Corner!

HS Corner 5.19The seniors took a walk down memory lane and brought the rest of the high school along with us as we returned to Blackwood Educational Land Institute in Hempstead, Texas for our final senior retreat. The seniors had previously visited Blackwood on a trip in 7th grade. Returning as seniors felt like a perfect way to reconnect to one of the most influential trips in our time at St. Catherine’s. This return to our past felt particularly timely as we are each writing a speech for graduation reflecting on our past experiences at St. Catherine’s. Our itinerary included a tour around the property, reflective time for the seniors, a delicious dinner prepared by Blackwood’s resident chef, karaoke, and a favorite activity of our 7th grade trip to Blackwood, Manhunt. In reality, Manhunt is just a hide-and-seek tag with a cooler name, but playing Manhunt in the woods at Blackwood elevates it to a whole new level of fun. Blackwood is an incredible place with an emphasis on nature and sustainability that is perfectly in line with the values of St. Catherine’s.
