Biography

Catherine has a bachelor's degree in Education with over 30 years of experience working with children of all ages in many different environments, and she is currently training for the AMI Elementary diploma. Educated in South Africa, she attended Holy Cross Convent in high school, as her family is Catholic. She has a love of the mystery and sacredness of Christ and His church and a deep appreciation for God’s community.

Catherine has four adult children, all of whom are in the US, two up north and two down south! She has friends and family around the world and spends her spare time savoring a cup of tea while keeping up with those she cherishes.

Over her decades of teaching, Catherine has always found the Montessori approach to be the most extraordinary way of learning for children. She has a special interest in the way children and adults process sensory information and is inspired by the Montessori quote, “Let the children be free; encourage them; let them run outside when it’s raining; let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water.”

St. Catherine’s is an environment that nurtures Montessori and Catholic principles both of which are meaningful to Catherine and she is honored and delighted to be part of the school’s community.
