Abby, a Mississippi native, studied art and psychology at the University of North Alabama. She worked as an assistant in a public kindergarten classroom and then moved to Houston in 2014 to join Jesuit Volunteer Corps.
Through JVC, Abby was a full-time volunteer at Star of Hope Women and Family Emergency Shelter. With a strong desire to continue serving children in crisis, she then accepted the unique opportunity to intern as a foster parent with Casa de Esperanza de los Niños.
The experience of parenting children in crisis sparked Abby’s interest in child development, which led her to Montessori education. Now Abby and her son, Andre, are grateful to be part of such a special community. In their spare time, Abby and Andre enjoy day trips to the beach, exploring parks, and the ever-ongoing discussions about trains and dump trucks.
