Exciting News about Japhet Creek

We are eternally grateful to former owners Jim Ohmart and Eileen Hatcher for their dedication to helping others connect to a sustainable lifestyle, to keeping Houston green, to connecting others to nature, and to being responsible for our planet. Years ago, they had a vision that the sustainably minded community they created east of downtown Houston would remain educational and agricultural. St. Catherine’s identified Japhet Creek as an ideal environment for the work of the adolescent, and after years of growing our relationship and comparing visions, Jim and Eileen offered to gift St. Catherine’s 3 acres of land.

Before accepting the gift, the high school students collaborated with the City of Houston to conduct a Phase I and Phase II Environmental Study to verify the health of the land, and the completed report gave the land a clean bill of health. We are blessed to be the beneficiaries of the Ohmarts’ kindness, and we look forward to providing more details about Japhet Creek as our work there continues.
