Mission Statement:
The mission of the PSO is to enhance the educational environment of St. Catherine’s Montessori School while building community spirit through family involvement.  The PSO will achieve this by coordinating projects to raise funds for classroom enrichment opportunities, such as bringing cultural programs to the school, field trips and other off-campus opportunities and aiding classrooms in getting classroom materials. The PSO will also organize school sponsored events and gatherings that promote family involvement and community building.

Here are some of the activities and events hosted or sponsored the by the Parent Service Organization (PSO) at St. Catherine’s Montessori School.

Magazine Drive (October) - The PSO’s only fundraiser during the year is a school-wide magazine drive. With the help of their parents, students solicit subscriptions and renewals for a variety of publications.

Fall Festival (October) - Fun activities of the season and a pot luck picnic offer a chance for new families to make friends and for the SCM community to get together and have some fun. In the past we have enjoyed decorating pumpkins, making our own scarecrows and even a petting zoo.

Holiday Gifts and Celebrations (December) - Room Parents help with teacher requests for holiday celebrations and coordinate classroom gifts to the teachers.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon (April or May) - Every spring, the PSO coordinates a pot luck luncheon for the entire SCM staff to show them how much we value their work with our children.

Spring Fling (April) - As in the fall, each spring the PSO again hosts a pot luck picnic on the SCM playground. We gather for some springtime fun in the sun. .

Throughout the School Year

  • The New parent liaison informs the new families of school activities and answers questions the families may have about various events hosted by the PSO throughout the year.

  • The Outside Education committee keeps all of us aware of cultural and educational activities available to us outside of school.

  • Each month we offer the opportunity to order Scholastic Books for your children and their classrooms.

  • The proceeds from the Magazine Drive are disbursed to the teachers and staff through our Wish List program. Each teacher receives funds to purchase items for the classroom or for special programs, including music and sports.

  • The Rebate Program (click here for details) manages all the rebates and give-aways that our school receives from area business, such as the Box Tops for Education program and the various school programs offered by stores (such as the Kroger Share Card).
