St. Catherine’s Montessori Goals and Objectives
There are three goals at St. Catherine’s, one in each major area of the life of the school.
- Educational Goal: to adhere to the best practices of the Association Montessori Internationale, (AMI) curriculum and training
- Spiritual Goal: to offer a pervasive element of Catholic study and experiences within the educational setting
- Environmental Goal: to practice sustainable living in the areas of energy efficiency, water use, educational material, recycling and gardening
The objectives of the school are:
Educational Objectives:
- Identify prospective candidates to sponsor for full training to earn a diploma from Association Montessori Internationale (AMI)
- Sponsor teachers who have their Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diploma, to attend a yearly AMI refresher course. The Refresher Course is an opportunity for professional growth and development of Montessori teachers
- Maintain a full complement of approved Montessori materials in each classroom and ensure they are kept clean, attractive and in good repair
Spiritual Objectives:
- Sponsor Catholic teachers for Archdiocesan approved Catechist Certification
- Sponsor Catholic teachers for full certification in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Environmental Objectives:
- Provide ongoing education in sustainable living practices such as use of school wide water filtration system in place of bottled drinking water
- Continue school wide recycling program including glass, plastic, paper, aluminum and other metals
