Katherine Parker

Katherine graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychological Services from Northwestern University.  She received her Masters of Education from Loyola College in Maryland and she received her A.M.I. certification from the Montessori training center in Minnesota.

Katherine moved to Houston in 2006 after one visit to St. Catherine’s Montessori.  After many years in Minnesota, she was drawn to the heat of the south, the proximity to her family and especially to the St. Catherine community.  Before visiting St. Catherine’s, she had taught at a one-room primary school in Edina, Minnesota and for two years worked at a school in Lima, Peru.

In her spare time Katherine enjoys fitness (especially goal-setting) and spending time with friends and family.  She also enjoys photography, cooking, running with her puppy, Scout and traveling with her husband when she is able.

Katherine grew up in public education and was impacted by an undergraduate requirement while working at a Montessori School.  She was intrigued by the depth of insight on the part of the children.  There was vast self-discipline and joy emanating from each child.  When she took the year-long Montessori training she became even more convinced of the value of a Montessori staff and family devoted to the prepared environment that nourishes both body and mind.  At St. Catherine’s she feels blessed to be a part of a body of Christ that is committed to the best for each child.
