Kathy Hijazi
Kathy has her B.S. in Chemistry/Biology from Wayne State College. She is currently working towards her Permaculture Design Certificate. She attended the 6-week Montessori adolescent colloquium in the summer of 1996 as well as attending innumerable courses, workshops, seminars and conferences dedicated to Montessori philosophy and education.
Kathy was a research assistant at Baylor College of Medicine in biochemistry and a senior research assistant at M.D. Anderson in Molecular Genetics for 17 years. She was a middle school guide at Post Oak School for 6 years and has been an upper school guide at St. Catherine’s since 2001.
In her spare time Kathy enjoys cooking, gardening, permaculture and adolescents. She and her husband have 2 boys. Kathy finds that adolescents are a great source of positive energy in her life.
Her comments on Montessori - “I discovered Montessori as a new parent 17 years ago. I have raised 2 sons in the Montessori philosophy and deeply believe that Montessori education is one of the surest paths towards world peace among all peoples and a sustainable existence on our planet.”
