Janice’s comments about Montessori – “Upon my first visit to my nieces’ Montessori environments, I became intrigued with the ‘something different’ that was going on there. I took a part time job assisting in a Montessori toddler environment one fall and spent time with toddlers that were eating lunch without their Mom’s for the first time. These ‘little ones’ were also taking a nap away from home for the first time. I recall being amazed by the competence and presence of these young beings in this new and unexpected circumstance. I was immediately hooked. Reading only further confirmed my love for this philosophy which views children no t as unfinished human beings but rather as ‘the other pole of humanity’.”
