Jacinta Edussuriya
Jacinta received her BA in Education from La Salle University in Louisiana. She received her AMI Primary Diploma from Sri Lanka and her AMI Elementary (6-12) Diploma from the Ohio Montessori Training Institute. Jacinta is also trained in Catechesis of the Good Shepard, Levels I and II.
Jacinta taught for 11 years as a primary teacher in Sri Lanka. She then moved to Chicago, Illinois where she taught Montessori elementary (6-12) at Seton Academy. She has been a Lower Elementary teacher at St. Catherine’s since 1996.
In her spare time Jacinta enjoys reading, cooking, sewing and gardening. She is the mother of 3 daughters.
Her comments on Montessori - “Montessori empowers children - to make good choices, learn from their mistakes and become worthy citizens. As for myself I find myself inspired by the children I teach.”
